Dear Dr. Caploe:In his State of the Union address, Mr. Obama sang the praises of the solar shingles made by Luma Resources. Would it surprise you that those solar shingles are made of CRYSTALLINE cells, not thin-film?Who are these "several thin-film solar manufacturers" that have "finally unveiled flexible panels?"The fact is, solar shingles, even the ones preferred by President Obama, make absolutely no economic sense, as they underperform regular PV rooftop installations and cost 2x as much.
