Solar Parasol Provides Shade and Clean Electricity

Solar power is becoming more and more popular. The technology is reasonably simple and requires little knowledge to install, and therefore it has become a very popular energy source on a personal scale. The low cost of solar panels has led to a large number of homes and businesses installing their own solar cells to create cheap renewable electricity. However the problem is that solar arrays are unsightly and take up a lot of space, which has led them to be commonly installed on rooftops.

Now the Italian company Ombrellone Solare has released a product that will make solar energy much more aesthetically attractive, the Kosmos Parasol. Their new design makes solar panels much more attractive, introducing the possibility of having them situated in gardens or on patios, rather than just on rooftops.

Ombrellone Solare's design resembles a large, flat parasol which can provide shade from the sun, whilst at the same time uses organic solar cells to convert the energy from the sun into useable electricity.

The idea proved very popular at the Milan Design Week where it helped provide the public with a respite from the suns glare, whilst at the same time offering an outlet for people to charge their mobile phones and laptops.
