Rimac Automobili is an automobile manufacturing company that specialises in producing high-performance electric vehicles, drivetrains, and battery systems. Estabilished in Zagreb, Croatia in 2009 it initially began as a hobby in the garage of its founder Mate Rimac.
When in 1984 Rimac's BMW E30 blew its petrol engine during a race he decided to replace it with a 600 bhp electric power train, turning the car into his first guinea pig. The car, nicknamed the 'Green Monster' went on to set five Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) acceleration records which attracted media attention and potential investors. With financial backing Rimac then went on to grow his hobby into the leading producer of electric sports cars in the world.
Rimac's latest vehicle is the world conquering Concept_One, which uses a new propulsion system to produce mind-blowing performance figures.
Called by many the first true electric supercar, but with the figures that it boasts I personally would call it the first electric hypercar, it truly is in league with the likes of the Koenigsegg CCR, the SSC Aero, and even the vaunted Bugatti Veyron (except that the top speed has been limited to just 305km/h).

Each of the Rimac's wheels is powered by a separate liquid-cooled permanent magnet electric motor which generate a total output of 1,088 bhp, sending it from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds. And don't be put off by any range anxiety with it being a fully electric car, the 91kWh lithium ion battery will allow you to drive for 500km one just one charge. What might put you off is the price tag; the car goes into production this year with an expected price tag of $980,000.
The Concept_One is currently on a tour of the Middle East trying to build interest amongst the wealthy elite that reside there.
I finish with the statement that was made on the Gas2 website: "Electric supercars may soon displace Ferraris and Lambos as the chariot of choice for the wealthiest among us, and Rimac is positioning itself as a literal leader in pure electric speed for a new century."
