In a bid to further break out from its international isolation, Iran is holding its third international exhibition on energy saving and urban electronic management in Tehran from 14 - 16 July.
Using nano-materials for fuel consumption decrease, thermal insulations for decreasing energy consumption, nanotechnology application in LED and OLED, and utilizing nanotechnology for the production of new generation of solar and fuel cells are the topics to be covered by INIC in this exhibition. Iran's Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) is affiliated to the office of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who will attend the exhibition, Nanotechnology Initiative Council reported.
Iran initiated its nanotechnology activities in 2001 and in 2003 established the
Nanotechnology Initiative Council to promote nanotechnology.
Iran is looking to use nanotechnology across a broad spectrum of applications, including decreasing fuel consumption, thermal insulation, applications in light emitting diodes (LED) and organic light emitting diodes (OLED), as well as for the production of a new generation of solar and fuel cells.
Despite being a member of the Organization of Oil Exporting Countries (OPEC), Iran since 1979 has been subjected to various sanctions and has attempted to develop indigenous industries, particularly those that promote and conserve its energy assets.
