A wind turbine in Devon has blown over after some high winds proved to much for the bolts securing the tower to the base. No one was hurt, but local residents have now lost confidence in wind turbines.

Could this damage the reputation of the wind industry? I would have thought that such large margins of error are designed into the turbine construction that they would be able to withstand anything up to and including a hurricane.

If a hurricane does hit a wind farm will it just flatten it?
