Repsol has Filed a Court Case to Block Chevron from Working with YPF of Argentina

Repsol filed a U.S. lawsuit to block Chevron Corp's deal with Argentina's YPF , ramping up the Spanish oil company's legal response to the loss of its assets in Argentina.

Repsol is following up on a threat it made to launch legal action against any company that partners with YPF after Argentina seized control of Repsol's majority stake in the energy company in April.

Chevron must have known that Repsol had forbidden anyone from dealing with YPF until it has settled its case over the illegal seizure of its share of the company by the Argentine government. So why did they decide to create a deal with YPF? What where they hoping to achieve?
